The wearing of school uniforms is a long-standing tradition in Grenada. It helps the children feel camaraderie within the school, and many experts believe that students who wear school uniforms perform better academically. They believe uniforms set a more serious tone within the school environment that is conducive to learning and can improve student performance. In addition, it relieves the pressure of buying trendy clothing and deciding what to wear in the morning!
The GMPS dress code requires children ages 2 1/2 and up to wear an official GMPS uniform. The uniform choices are:
PE clothing is white t-shirt and dark green shorts, white socks, and white sneakers/runners. (Shorts are made to order locally).
All shirts and jumpers are to be embroidered with the GMPS logo, which can be done at Sign Design. It is located in the bottom of a little house off of Lowther's Lane at the next right after the GSPCA, high up on the hill behind the Ministirial Complex.
We have a local seamstress who can make jumpers for girls.
It is recommended that you shop for polo shirts and khaki bottoms off-island, as they are sometimes in short supply. Lands End has a nice selection
