Susanne Curry, Head of the School, received her Early Childhood Education Diploma at George Brown College in Toronto in 1988 and continued her studies in Elementary Education at University of Victoria in British Columbia in 1994. She then moved back to Toronto where she focused her studies in Montessori Training. She received her Casa dipoma(MACTE) at the Canadian Montessori Teacher Education Institute. Susanne returned to school three years later to obtain her Elementary Diploma at the Toronto Montessori Institute. Susanne has been teaching at Montessori schools in the Caribbean for many years and still has a passion for the method. Her parents taught in Grenada in 1966 and she has followed in her father’s footsteps with a passion for teaching.... and Grenada! "One of my favourite moments of the day is opening up the school and getting ready for all the little footsteps and attendant laughter to fill the air. I can’t think of a better profession for me, this has to be one of the most rewarding jobs! "
Rubyha was born in the island of Trinidad, and her lifestyle has truly been an international one, as the spouse of a Foreign Service officer. She has lived and worked in England completing her Primary Diploma at the AMI Institute in London, and then moving on with her young family to Guyana where she ran a Montessori Co-operative providing a much needed Montessori education for her children and their friends. She has lived and worked both in Washington D.C. and New York teaching at the Primary level before moving onto the AMI campus at Loyola College in Maryland to complete the elementary level of training and her Master's of Education. This was done while effecting a move to Toronto where she took up the offer of teaching at the elementary level at Weston/PT Montessori. Rubyha next took on the challenge of opening and administering The Joy of Learning Montessori School in Hamilton, ON, an experience which was totally fulfilling and helped to define more clearly her desire to return to teaching at the elementary level in the Montessori classroom. Rubyha is delighted to become a part of the dedicated and caring team of professionals at GMPS, and looks forward to an exciting and creative time helping to implement an authentic Montessori experience.
Ms. Jenelle Fletcher has been teaching in the CASA Program since 2008. Ms. Jenelle was trained with our former CASA Directress, Ms. Judy Broad. She has been given glowing reviews by professional Montessori Teacher Trainers who recently visited us from Boulder, Colorado as part of our on-going teacher training program. Ms. Jenelle is soft spoken and has a wonderful nurturing way with the children. She has been a great addition to our team here at GMPS.
Judy Lewis has been with us since the inception of our school here in Mont Tout. She cares for all our little darlings as though they were her own. Ms. Judy always makes herself available in our other classrooms to support the teachers or to read with the children and is never afraid to lend a hand. She has an incredible way with children of all ages, but her favourite place to help is the Toddler Room. She even has 4 of her own that keep her very busy on her weekends! We, at GMPS, are very happy to have her with us!
Ms. Kornelia joined us during the 2012-2013 school year. She has been a tremendous help in the office assisting with the day to day running of the school in addition to her fundraising and accounting efforts. Ms. Kornelia has an H. Bachelors of Commerce from McMaster University in Canada, and is a Certified Management Accountant. She's worked in many diverse industries over the years however working within the Montessori environment has brought her the most joy.
Tammy Ince-Dickson (and her son) joined us here at GMPS in 2009. Tammy has been working with children in Canada and the UK for as long as she can remember. Tammy was intrigued by the Montessori method of teaching for herself and to give this unique opportunity to her son, Xavier. From the moment we met Tammy, we knew that she would be a perfect fit for our Casa children and the philosophy of our program. GMPS sent Tammy off to Boulder Colorado for a 10 week extremely challenging and rigorous Montessori Teacher training course. When she returned she was eager to get her classroom set up and she was off to the races with her 16 little darlings and Ms. Jenelle at her side!
